Reporting infringement

If you believe material in the app infringes a copyright you own or control, send our agent a written notice that includes:

Members can also report a track from inside the app (Report a track). A notice that leaves out these elements may not be acted on.

What we do

When we receive a complete notice we remove or disable access to the material promptly, and we tell the member who posted it, with a copy or summary of the notice and how to respond.

Counter-notice

If your material was removed and you believe that was a mistake or misidentification, you may send our agent a counter-notice that includes:

We forward a complete counter-notice to the person who sent the original notice. Unless they tell us within 10 business days that they have filed a court action to stop the infringement, we restore the material within 10 to 14 business days of receiving the counter-notice.

Repeat infringers

Each upheld notice against a member's material counts as a copyright strike. An account that reaches three strikes is suspended and may be terminated. We may act sooner where the infringement is clear and deliberate. A strike withdrawn by the person who sent the notice, or overturned by a counter-notice that is not answered with a court action, is removed.

False claims

Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f), anyone who knowingly misrepresents that material is infringing, or that it was removed by mistake, may be liable for damages. If you are not sure whether material infringes your rights, consider speaking to a lawyer first.

Releases already on streaming services

Releases distributed through the app are delivered to streaming services by our distribution partner. If your notice concerns a release on a streaming service, send it to our agent as above and include the release title, artist and ISRC or UPC if you have them; we act on it with our distribution partner.
